SEZ Summit Receives Sponsorship

Representatives of Special Ecomic Zone Authority, Kumul Petroleum Holdings Limited and the National Fisheries Authority with Minister for International Trade and Investment Richard Maru


The Special Economic Zone (SEZ) Summit has received Sponsorship from various government agencies.


The summit will run from May 8-9 at Stanley Hotel in Port Moresby.

The summit is expected to attract 400 plus delegates from overseas and within the country and will cost K1.5 million.

Six sponsors have come on-board as gold sponsors for the summit which includes Special Economic Zone Authority, Kumul Consolidated Holdings, Kumul Petroleum Holdings Limited, National Fisheries Authority, Water PNG and Telikom PNG.

Tonight's (05.04.2023)event saw the presentation of a total of K600,000 from the SEZ Authority and NFA presenting to the Ministry of International Trade and Investment that will be hosting the summit.

Minister for International Trade and Investment Richard Maru said the SEZ is a transformational project that will change the face of this country and the summit will enable the International business community to share their experiences on SEZs in their country.

Mr.Maru says SEZs will be the driver for the economy going into the future and the economy cannot rely on the extractive industry anymore.

He says after 47 years of independence with 8 resource projects running but still the country is in debt and struggling financially therefore the way forward is SEZs.

Minister Maru thanked the sponsors for coming on-board and assured them that this partnership will go a long way in being the driver for the policies of SEZ in the country.
